About Leisure world, mesa Arizona
Situated on 958 acres, the Leisure World 55+ golf retirement community in Mesa, Arizona contains 2,664 homes and offers a full range of activities and amenities, including two golf courses.
Developed by Rossmoor mostly during the 1970's and 1980's, Leisure World Arizona was part of the national Leisure World® brand. There were seven Leisure World communities across the country: Arizona, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, and two in California (Seal Beach and Walnut Creek). Leisure World Arizona is a gated community with 24-hour guarded security including vehicle patrols. Guests of residents must have prior gate clearance from the property owner before being allowed to enter the community.

With so many different clubs and activities, you can do as much or as little as you like. At Leisure World you can enjoy:
- Sport Courts: Pickle Ball, Bocce Ball, Shuffleboard, Horseshoe Pits, Lawn Bowling
- Pools: Two heated pools and spa
- Fitness Center: A 10,000 sq.ft. fitness center with modern aerobics and strength training equipment
- Arts & Crafts: sewing, quilting, woodshop, lapidary, pottery, and virtually every arts or craft you can think of
- Game & Recreation Rooms: Billiards Room, Card Rooms, Library
- Theater/auditorium: There are many community gatherings, dances and showtime performances sponsored by the community.
- Golf: Two 18-hole golf courses, one championship course and one executive course
There are also lots of community-sponsored trips and outings. A community newspaper, the Leisure World News, is published weekly with their calendar of events.
Leisure World Real Estate
A variety of home styles and floor plans are available, including detached single-family homes, condominiums, duplexes, and garden homes. HOA fees vary by the type of property.
Most homes for sale at Leisure World have been well-maintained by the owners, but will reflect the styles and finishes of the homes built during the 1970s and 1980's, so buyers will usually want to do a little updating and modernizing. More and more of the houses are being remodeled and updated, so you might get lucky and find a home that has already been renovated.
Leisure World Golf
Leisure World has two golf courses, both designed by Greg Nash, including golf shops, driving range, practice greens and bunkers.
The Coyote Run course is an 18-hole par 73 championship course that plays 6,437 yards from the back tees. If you're a beginner, or just looking for some short game practice, you'll enjoy the 18-hole Heron Lakes course, their 4,024 yard par 63 executive course.
During the busy winter months, so many people want the same tee times that the courses have a morning and an afternoon shot gun start, where everybody tees off at the same time, on a different hole.
About the Mesa Area
Leisure World is located right across the street from the Superstition Springs Mall, so anything and everything you could ever need or want is literally right outside the gates of the community. Major medical facilities including a Banner Hospital are also within five minutes of the community.
The convenient location offers easy access to Hwy 60, making Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and downtown Phoenix just a 20-30 minute drive (without traffic).
